Grammar TEC Rugby Club is proud to welcome Jono Hickey on board as its new Director of Rugby.Jono re-joins the club’s staff having previously done an outstanding job as its Rugby Development Officer with the Grammar TEC Juniors which followed an extensive professional playing career that spanned 8 years across both cricket and rugby and included stints in Japan, with Auckland, Wellington, and Otago.Jono has GTEC blood running through his veins, was the heart and soul of the Premier side for several years, captained the side and was part of the 2015 Gallaher Shield winning side.Since hanging up the boots Jono has gravitated towards the coaching side of the game having worked with the Auckland u19s as their backs and attack coach, as well as working as the kicking coach at both Saint Kentigern College and Kings College. In 2022 Jono has also been assisting with the wider Auckland NPC squad with their preparations.Please join with me in congratulating Jono on his appointment and wishing him every success for the new role.
